Girls' education in the face of climate emergencies

Cyclones are a regular feature for those living in West Bengal. Our partner, Nishtha coordinated emergency relief amongst the thousands of people who had lost their homes, their possessions, and their livelihoods from cyclones in 2022. In this region the majority were already extremely poor and economically insecure. Adolescent girls are at an increased risk of trafficking and child marriage due to the cyclone making families especially vulnerable and due to the geographical location near the border with Bangladesh. This project supports girls to access education and out of child marriage. Watch here for find out more.
